See now, when I watch The Simpsons, I don't just watch it for humour or plot-lines. I find most inspiration from the animation, hence why my artwork turns out quite different from others. I suppose, you can appreciate it some more if it's a still image, after all you have more time to look, with no motion involved.
Anyway, I've always liked doing this type of thing with my work. It's a nice little surprise when they can do these dream sequences on the show. It lets them loose with their artistic license. The 60s/70s had a lot of colour and I was motivated to create this based on what I saw. A nice change especially considering there's usually not a lot of colour in art these days.
Then again, I do Simpsons fan art, so loads of Yellow.
